- ➤ Today, the 30-minute documentary film “Reclaiming Home: Remembering the Topeka Bottoms” premieres at 7 p.m. at the University of Kansas Department of Visual Art’s Off-Site Art Space downtown. - ➤ Misty Schieberle, a Byron T. Shutz Award-winning KU professor, will present her lecture “Medieval Mysteries: Archival Challenges and Classroom Discoveries” at 5:30 p.m. April 20 in the Big 12 Room at the Kansas Union — the event is open to the public in person and via livestream. - ➤ Three University of Kansas professors have been elected as AAAS fellows for 2025, recognizing their work in paleontology, virology and medicinal chemistry. KU now counts 33 AAAS fellows, a milestone that showcases its strength as a leading research institution. University of Kansas

- ➤ On Thursday, Mayor Brad Finkeldei met with the Environmental Sustainability Advisory Board to discuss sustainability plans (board members proposed an energy benchmarking policy requiring annual energy data from property owners) and sent their letter to the city commission concerning ordinance 9744. - ➤ Lawrence’s Environmental Sustainability Advisory Board will ask commissioners to boost funding for its sustainability department in 2027 after its operating budget dropped 89% from 2025 to 2026. Board members plan to retain the lone employee and meet with other groups to discuss pooling sustainability resources. The Lawrence Times
