- ➤ Guzma is a 6-year-old mix who came to the Lawrence Humane Society a month ago in very poor shape and is now healthy and calm with kids—he is available for adoption today for a discounted fee of $50 instead of $150. The Lawrence Times
- ➤ Officials announced the Lawrence Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade scheduled for Dec. 6 is canceled due to a virus outbreak among horses—veterinarians advise that gathering horses can spread the virus. Parade organizers said they plan to return next year and urged horse owners to watch for signs like fever and cough. KMBC

- ➤ Lawrence officials announced the winners of the 2025 Phoenix Awards, honoring six local artists for their creative contributions to the community.
