EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Lawrence school board approved a 3% raise for district administrators and contracted about $575K in design and planning services for an expansion at Langston Hughes Elementary at its Monday meeting. The project, which will add new classrooms and improve facilities, is set to proceed following public engagement—efforts aimed at easing overcrowding—while construction is now scheduled for summer 2027. - ➤ University of Kansas researcher Nancy Brady and her team used a tool to measure pre-speech communication in infants with Down, Angelman, and Fragile X, as well as a low-risk control group, in a study published on November 10 (involving 72 families using home video kits).
