- ➤ The University of Kansas is offering free parking options+ and shuttles for community members at the KU Conference Center ribbon-cutting on Nov. 12 with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. and the event starting at 11 a.m.; guests can choose paid parking in the Mississippi Street Garage for hourly rates+ and must RSVP by Nov. 10. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Lawrence school board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday at district offices to consider appointing fourth-place candidate Bob Byers to fill a vacant seat left after Anne Costello resigned — he has served on the board before and may serve until January 12, 2026 if selected. The Lawrence Times
- ➤ On Nov 6, industry executives, state policymakers, and KU leaders held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the renovated Watney CORELAB—adding 5,500 square feet for storing rock cores and conducting critical analyses on the West District campus. The project, funded by state appropriations along with private and federal grants, will boost research into Kansas's natural materials. University of Kansas
- ➤ A federal judge ruled that Kansas SNAP families received full benefits for November after they were set for partial payments, and Governor Kelly said — with over $31.6 million added by November 7 — that the payments reached those in need. Full benefits were disbursed while uncertainty remains for December as the federal shutdown continues. KCTV

- ➤ The Kansas Direct Support Workforce Initiative honored exceptional direct support workers in a virtual ceremony on November 7, recognizing those who help individuals with disabilities live independently. - ➤ On November 7, 2025, the second round of the Kansas High School Football Playoffs ended with Derby beating Junction City 28 to 7 and Wichita Northwest defeating Washburn Rural 52 to 28.
