The Kansas Beef Council launched a holiday edition of its 'Beef Brings Us Together' campaign yesterday — six themed billboards were placed across Kansas and a new 30-second ad began airing on TV and streaming to remind Kansans of beef's role in holiday meals.
The campaign aimed to reach tens of millions of consumers and boost beef demand during the season.
Researchers from across the United States and abroad are invited to apply for a 2026 Spencer Research Library travel grant designed to support in-depth research using local collections — the online application will remain open until Jan.
4 with notifications sent by Feb. 20, and the grant offers up to $1,500 for travel expenses.
University of Kansas Chancellor Douglas A.
Girod was elected as chair of the AAU Board of Directors by member presidents and chancellors on October 29th; he will succeed Princeton University President Christopher Eisgruber and serve a one-year term (he previously served as vice chair) guiding federal policy on research universities.
Starting January 1, 2026, the Community Building will only allow people when they are signed up for a program or have a reservation—other centers will need a membership, day pass or program registration starting January 5.
The change means the centers will not be used as warming or cooling areas—those needing shelter must call Lawrence Community Shelter at 7858328864.
