- ➤ Coraline is a 4-year-old deaf pit bull who loves cold weather and wearing striped sweaters. She was surrendered three months ago because of housing issues and is featured as Pet of the Week at the Lawrence Humane Society – staff provide her with extra training and post-adoption support to help her thrive in a new home. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will compose a new 15 movement suite titled 'Wave the Wheat Suite' to honor KU icons in academics and athletics. The suite will premiere on Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m.—sponsorship funds will cover bus costs for Lawrence Public School students to attend performances each year. KSNT 27
- ➤ KU’s Spencer Museum of Art acquired nearly 100 Shipibo-Conibo works from Joan Lathrap’s personal collection to support courses in Latin American studies and related fields. - ➤ Enrollment figures from the Kansas Board of Regents released Oct. 1 show that technical colleges in Kansas increased by 68.2% from fall 2015 to fall 2025 while community colleges dropped 10.7% as more students choose trade schools over traditional options. State universities saw mixed results with some, like Wichita State University Campus of Applied Sciences and Technology, gaining ground and others experiencing declines. KSNT 27

- ➤ This fall, the City of Lawrence is asking residents to bag or mulch leaves instead of sweeping them into the street—clogged drains can lead to flooding and water pollution.
