- ➤ Community members attended the first annual Kaw Valley Field Day on October 12 at Shirk’s Barn, 1359 North 1900 Road in Lawrence, where they enjoyed hayrides, live music and seasonal treats. The Save Our Soil Kaw Valley Foundation — dedicated to protecting rare glacial and mineral soils of the Kaw River Valley — hosted the event. The Lawrence Times

- ➤ KU and Haskell students will raise a tipi on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 9:30 a.m. on the KU Strong Hall lawn at 1450 Jayhawk Blvd to celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day as leaders including Miss Haskell Angelina Giago, Oglala Lakota and Hunkpati Dakota & members of KU's First Nations Student Association guide the event.
