Save Our Soil Kaw Valley Foundation will host the first annual Kaw Valley Field Day on Saturday, Oct.

11 at Shirk’s Barn at 1359 North 1900 Road—about 2 miles northwest of Lawrence Regional Airport. The free event will include hayrack rides, a pumpkin patch, food trucks, beer and wine, Flint corn craft-ivities for kids, a farm machine display, and live performances by regional Americana artists.

Voters will elect two city commissioners and three school board members in November—upcoming forums offer a chance to meet candidates as the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce holds a forum on Oct.8 from noon to 1 p.m. with a live radio broadcast and the NAACP with other groups hosts a candidate forum at the public library on Oct.11 with a post-event meet-and-greet.
