  • Lawrence residents can experience the annual Kaw Valley Farm Tour on Saturday, Oct 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct 5 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. as 33 farms and 6 heritage sites offer farm animals, produce picking, local food samples and lessons on sustainable agriculture. Organizers set ticket prices at $15 per carload and advise visitors to plan routes using a digital tour map—pets are not allowed.  The Lawrence Times

  • John Brown’s Aboveground patio is open again after three years and now lets customers enjoy outdoor cocktails and takeout food from the upstairs restaurant—after a long struggle with city codes and a tight budget. The bar spent $65,000 to upgrade the space and earned a James Beard award nomination—showing a hard-won return to downtown life.  The Lawrence Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Community members gathered Friday at Haskell Indian Nations University for the annual Welcome Back Powwow; the bison harvest took place Saturday and a cookout is happening today—while the Haskell Indian Art Market will return Oct 4—5.  The Lawrence Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Yesterday, Kansas State beat UCF 34-20 for its first Big 12 win as Avery Johnson threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns and Dylan Edwards ran for 166 yards and a touchdown. The Wildcats capitalized on turnovers and amassed 268 rushing yards while the defense made a crucial fourth-down stop.  KCTV
