Community members gathered at the University of Kansas to pray for Charlie Kirk and his family as they honored his life—offering a space for reflection after his death.

Police maintained order on the Campanile lawn as students gathered to honor 31-year-old Charlie Kirk, assassinated at a college event in Utah on Wednesday—sponsored by the KU chapter of Turning Point USA to honor his legacy.

Lawrence Virtual School senior Emma Ryan was named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist—she joins six local peers who achieved the honor, and her online school classification led to her name being corrected in the district list.

The bargaining team for education support professionals accepted a $1 hourly raise from the Lawrence school district that will boost the lowest pay from $14.02 to $15.46 in 2025-26 and move workers up the salary scale—union members will soon vote on the agreement.
