- ➤ No one was hurt in an hourslong standoff at a Lawrence home after police responded to a call at 1:30 a.m.—they later found a man sleeping on a bed and took him into custody on several charges. KMBC
- ➤ An 18-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday after a Douglas County sheriff’s deputy saw him speeding at 100 mph on Massachusetts Street in Lawrence—he was taken to jail for other traffic violations near 23rd Street and Haskell Avenue. KCTV

- ➤ The Lawrence Arts Center has named two new artists in residence for printmaking and ceramics for the 2025-26 season—Wabwila Mugala and Jason Wang. Mugala will teach Experimental Print Processes and Relief Printmaking while Wang offers Beginning Wheel Throwing in September for a fee of $280. The Lawrence Times

- ➤ Today, the University of Kansas TRIO program helps justice-involved individuals rebuild through education by offering FAFSA assistance and connecting them to local services. Former inmate Williams gained new skills in welding and electrical training while adviser Melody Lawrence works with corrections and will lead a session at the ROCK Conference from Aug 26—28.
