- ➤ On August 1, 30 educators from six Kansas districts met at Augusta High School to explore how AI can personalize teaching and learning as part of a statewide effort by CRE from the University of Kansas—ongoing coaching and resources will support further collaboration with another meeting scheduled for September. - ➤ Nine current and former students filed a federal lawsuit on Friday against Lawrence Public Schools alleging that the AI tool—Gaggle—violated their privacy and constitutional rights by monitoring and seizing their emails and creative work without warning. They are seeking an injunction to halt Gaggle’s use and are requesting damages as the district defends the tool as necessary to keep students safe. The Lawrence Times

- ➤ On August 1, Lawrence Transit officials changed more than 10 bus routes after feedback from riders and drivers. The new schedule adds a downtown hub at the northeast corner of 8th and Vermont streets (passengers are encouraged to use the transit app for real-time updates). KCTV
- ➤ Mayor Tyrone Garner declared July 30 Elijah Ming Day in honor of fallen sheriff deputy Elijah Ming after his death—this day will recognize his service and sacrifice. KCTV
- ➤ Kansas joined a lawsuit with 23 other states on Aug. 1 to stop a regulation that allowed billions of dollars in funds to be cut from programs like public safety, education and health. Governor Kelly said the suit will help keep essential funding from being removed on a whim by the federal government — a change she believes is needed. KCTV
