EDUCATION NEWS

  • KU professor Aaron Teator received a prestigious NSF CAREER Award valued at over $687,000 (a top honor for early-career faculty) for his research on synthetic polymers aimed at creating more sustainable plastics and rubbers. • Lawrence school board approved an $800 raise for teachers as part of a 3% increase to the salary pool + added a second 45-minute planning period for elementary and high school teachers. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The City of Lawrence Municipal Services & Operations Department warns residents that grass clippings and yard waste can pollute local waterways if they enter storm drains, which may release harmful nutrients that lead to algae blooms.
