ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Kansas Corporation Commission approved two settlement agreements on July 7 that let Evergy Kansas Central recover costs for building two new gas plants and a solar facility called Kansas Sky. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawrence city leaders are proposing cuts—taking $1.5 million from the fire department and $1.3 million from the police force—to close a $6.6 million budget gap, which will reduce the number of on-duty emergency responders and lead to job cuts for police support staff.
