The Mt. Carmel Music Fest and Vendor Expo brought community members together—Pastor Jason Sims said many small businesses got their start at the festival in previous years—and helped build local opportunity.

Lawrence author Amanda Sellet will launch her new romantic comedy novel by hosting a film screening of The Lady Eve and a book signing at Liberty Hall on July 15 — the screening starts at 6:30 p.m. and the book signing begins at 8 p.m., inviting local readers and writers to enjoy the event.

Ken Lassman explained that bumblebees store pollen in sacks on their legs — called corbicula — to feed their young and queen, and he will share weekly nature updates on the Kaw Valley Almanac.

His report shows how local seasonal cycles have been observed by settlers and native tribes over many years.
