- ➤ Douglas County commissioners will hold public hearings on the proposed 2026 budget from Monday, July 7 to Thursday, July 10 at the Douglas County Courthouse on Massachusetts Street from 9 a.m. to noon, with options to attend in person or by Zoom—commissioners will also review a proposal that keeps the mill levy flat despite a 5.7% rise in assessed values and will consider $8.5 million in extra funding requests.
