Good morning, Lawrence.

Douglas County Data Center Watchdogs will host a public information session on data centers on Tuesday, June 23 at the Lawrence Public Library auditorium (707 Vermont St.).

Community members will discuss concerns about potential data center impacts amid pending reviews of local development codes.

Yesterday, hundreds gathered at South Park for the first day of the Juneteenth celebration where two Lawrence high school students read their essay contest entries; today, the event continues with a sold-out tour of local Underground Railroad sites and a multicultural parade starting at 11 a.m.

Lawrence officials warn that a 17.5% recycling contamination rate has triggered extra surcharges for taxpayers.

They urge residents to check items before recycling (improper sorting may raise additional costs) and will soon introduce a disposal tool to clarify acceptable materials.
