Chantel White opened her wellness studio Cute & Cut in downtown Lawrence in 2023 to offer low cost yoga, massage and CBD products on a sliding scale for low income and BIPOC clients — she serves on the Douglas County CORE board and works toward a master’s in social work to expand her services.
Ten Kansas secondary school science teachers will meet at the University of Kansas Field Station just north of Lawrence for the Ecosystems of Kansas Summer Institute from June 24 to June 26.
They will learn through hands-on activities—field visits to local aquatics, prairies and woodlands—led by KU scientists to gain new classroom ideas.
Researchers from the Robert Dole Institute in Lawrence and the Edward Kennedy Institute reported that only 37% of Kansas counties had enough revenue to cover rising election costs in 2024—Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab has already forwarded $1.9 million in federal grants to 84 counties. The report calls for more stable funding from local, state or federal sources to support modern voting technology and sufficient staffing.
