  • On June 7, thousands gathered downtown for Lawrence PRIDE despite a brief rain, and when the storm cleared a rainbow encircled the sun—marking a memorable moment for the community.  The Lawrence Times
  • At the Lawrence Public Library, the annual How-To Festival on Saturday showcased more than 30 stations where locals learned skills like bike travel and plush repair. Ten-year-old Winnie Crough hosted a sewing station to fix stuffed animals — sharing her experience to help her classmates.  The Lawrence Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Haskell Greenhouse team held a restoration event at Haskell Wetlands on Thursday where more than two dozen volunteers removed invasive species and helped native plants grow. Manager Courtney King said the efforts freed more than three acres of land and a Heritage Conservation Council grant will build a new boardwalk—improving access at this sacred site.  The Lawrence Times
