CULTURE NEWS

  • KU’s Dole Institute of Politics announced a summer program celebrating America 250 with events including a conversation with historian Beverly Gage on Monday, June 29 at a yet-to-be-disclosed venue. The series, which features live music and a tribute gallery debut at Summerfest on July 4, aims to engage the community.  The Lawrence Times
  • KU professor Megan Kaminski contributed a poem titled (Neighbors) to Living Roots: The Promise of Perennial Foods, which explores how urban gardening builds community and deepens ties to the land.   • Kansas’ only Revolutionary War patriot (a local hero) was honored on Memorial Day at a ceremony that recognized his service to the nation; the event reminded residents of his lasting contribution to our state’s history.  KCTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • University of Kansas students took part in a NATO simulation at the KU Conference Center on May 6 to face a water supply crisis and represent 32 nations while practicing decision-making.
