Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 25th of May.
Good morning, Lawrence.
The Lawrence City Band will resume its weekly summer concerts at South Park, inviting locals to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy free music at 8 p.m. every Wednesday—if it rains, the event moves indoors to the Lied Center.
The City of Lawrence is asking for community feedback on plans to charge membership fees at its rec centers to help cover a $1.8 million portion of a budget shortfall.
Residents can share their views via an online survey, join focus groups, and attend pop-up events at rec centers (May 27 at East Lawrence, May 28 at the Community Building, June 9 at Holcom Park, and June 12 at the Sports Pavilion) with recommendations set for July and fees expected to start in January.
