- ➤ The City of Lawrence is asking for community feedback on plans to charge membership fees at its rec centers to help cover a $1.8 million portion of a budget shortfall. Residents can share their views via an online survey, join focus groups, and attend pop-up events at rec centers (May 27 at East Lawrence, May 28 at the Community Building, June 9 at Holcom Park, and June 12 at the Sports Pavilion) with recommendations set for July and fees expected to start in January.
