  • KU professor Paul Scott wrote in his new book chapter that Korean zombie shows mix real life fears of martial law with ghost tale traditions in popular series like 'All of Us Are Dead.' He stated that these shows now feature smart zombies — a change that may shape future TV storytelling.  University of Kansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Douglas County Commissioner Gene Dorsey, who once served on Bert Nash’s board, called for lowering the center’s rent to $1 a year and for using sales tax funds to help cover a projected $3 million loss amid planned staff cuts. He asked Bert Nash’s leaders to meet with commissioners on May 28+ the move aims to secure the center for the community.  The Lawrence Times
  • Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff today to honor Butler County paramedic Justin Lauppe, who died last week while on an emergency call; his memorial service is scheduled at Park City Arena (public viewing begins at 11:30 a.m.).  KSNT 27
