- ➤ The Spencer Museum of Art opened Welcoming the World to Lawrence Tuesday, featuring art from eight countries whose teams will play matches nearby for the World Cup. The exhibition offers local visitors a vibrant look at international culture. KCTV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A University of Kansas study on Tue, May 19 found that third graders who received reading comprehension instruction improved in math problem-solving as higher working memory skills helped many English learners tackle multi-step word problems. University of Kansas
- ➤ The Achievement & Assessment Institute at the University of Kansas has named Ryan Bodensteiner as director of the Center for Evaluation and Educational Leadership and he will work with schools to create personalized support plans. He starts in July after serving as assistant superintendent for Leavenworth Public Schools (a local education leader). University of Kansas
- ➤ KU engineering professor Elaina Sutley is using the Wall of Wind hurricane simulator in Miami after early May tests showed wind damage on manufactured homes + a follow-up test is planned this week at the FIU facility. She aims to use the results to push for updated building codes that protect homeowners. University of Kansas

- ➤ Troy Harp filed a petition Tuesday with Miami County attorneys to stop a planned 600,000 sqft, $1 billion data center near his property in Osawatomie. He said the project could harm local wildlife — and city officials note that no land has been sold or final agreements reached. KMBC
