- ➤ Six students from the Community Transition program graduated on Thursday morning at Community Connections at Pinckney, with five honored for their perseverance and unique strengths. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lawrence police responded on May 15 to a report of a park slashing near West 6th and Maine—finding a 35-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man with knife injuries who received medical care while investigators questioned witnesses and ruled out additional involvement. KSNT 27
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Kansas is set to hold its commencement ceremony inside David Booth Memorial Stadium despite ongoing construction—marking the second year this tradition has continued. KCTV
- ➤ Six Project SEARCH student interns graduated on Thursday morning at Community Connections at Pinckney from internships at KU and Lawrence Memorial Hospital — they gained job skills in areas like physical therapy, recycling, and dining services and will soon join the workforce. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting Monday, Lawrence will boot cars with three or more unpaid parking tickets over 60 days old and give drivers a 48-hour notice before the car may be impounded. Tickets issued from January 1 will follow a civil process while older tickets remain under legal action — the policy aims to improve downtown parking access. KCTV
- ➤ City staff are asking the Lawrence City Commission to pass a resolution that will suspend enforcement of the city's equal rights ordinances to keep federal funding.
