- ➤ Nearly 90 rural mail carriers from Kansas rallied in Lenexa on Friday morning to protest plans to privatize the Postal Service and cut retirement benefits. Carriers from Lawrence, Topeka and western Kansas gathered along 87th Street with bull horns and matching t-shirts — rally leader Andy Tuttle warned the changes would threaten jobs and raise shipping costs. - ➤ Lawrence City Commission will meet Tuesday, May 6 at 5:45 p.m. at City Hall to consider multimillion-dollar tax incentives for the second phase of KU’s Gateway Project and a proposed Q39 downtown restaurant.
