- ➤ The University of Kansas Libraries held its 67th annual Snyder Book Collecting Contest—held April 24 at Watson Library—and honored eight student finalists with cash prizes. Lawrence senior Charles Johnson won first place in the undergraduate division and winners' collections will be on display outside the bookstore in the Kansas Union through May 9. University of Kansas
- ➤ KU graduate student Amrit Gautam returned to Lawrence after spending three months at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as part of a DOE research fellowship, where he conducted nuclear science research for his doctoral thesis—one of only two KU students selected—and his work will support progress on the future Electron-Ion Collider. - ➤ KU student Dania Wahwasuck has been named 2025-26 Miss Indian World. The Prairie Band Potawatomi (Pyramid Lake Paiute) student will serve as a cultural ambassador and promote youth education as she finishes her graduate studies at KU. The Lawrence Times
- ➤ KU RocketStars, a team of Indigenous STEM scholars from the University of Kansas and members of the KU AISES chapter, won the Outreach Award and Patch Design Contest at the First Nations Launch High-Powered Rocketry Competition held in Wisconsin from April 25–27—most team members are from Lawrence. - ➤ The City of Lawrence launched Citizen Connect today to let residents view locations of plans filed, permits, inspections, business licenses and code cases on one online map tool.
