Town Peterson at the KU Natural History Museum is leading a NSF-funded project that digitizes over 2.6 million African plant specimens from 21 U.S. herbaria.
The curated resource (including over 1 million geographic records and 2 million high-resolution images) will support global conservation research.

A local study by KU Health System found that thunderstorms were linked to an increase in asthma-related ER visits, with an average of nearly 18 visits on storm days compared to three on clear days.
Physicians advised patients with asthma to adjust medication and limit outdoor exposure during storms.
