CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Lawrence police will conduct a saturation patrol on Sunday, April 20 to check for impaired drivers — a measure funded by a Kansas Department of Transportation grant that will have officers perform field sobriety tests on drivers showing signs of alcohol or drug use. The Lawrence Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Angela Murray, director of CLARA, said a paperback edition of the Bloomsbury Handbook of Montessori Education is now available for purchase. The guide - which has 64 chapters and nearly 100 scholar contributions - is meant to help educators and researchers gain a better understanding of Montessori education. University of Kansas
- ➤ The Center for Service Learning has named doctoral candidate and graduate teaching assistant Molly Han as the Spring 2025 Service-Learning Instructional Mini-Grant recipient for her work with COMS 342, where students work with local community organizations on service projects. - ➤ Brad Ziegler said he will demolish the old stone building at 900 Pennsylvania St in East Lawrence — his restaurant plans stalled by a parking lawsuit from a property owner across the street. He applied for a demolition permit on March 31 and must wait 30 days for review while an appeal is pending. The Lawrence Times
- ➤ The City of Lawrence's East 23rd Street Reconstruction project, completed in 2023, received a Project of the Year Award for Transportation from the Kansas Chapter of the American Public Works Association—highlighting safety and access improvements along the corridor between Haskell Bridge and Anderson Road. - ➤ KU will host its 2025 Intelligence & National Security Colloquium at the Lawrence campus from April 30 to May 1.
