EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Christopher 'Kit' and Diana Smith donated $3 million to KU on Friday, April 17—$2 million for a law school fund honoring former Dean Michael Davis and $1 million for athletic scholarships for student-athletes. Their gift will help boost opportunities for Kansas students. University of Kansas
- ➤ Students at Blue Valley North gained hands-on experience through the KU Unckless Lab’s yearlong outreach program using insect samples in a project funded by the National Science Foundation, and they will present their research posters at the KU Center for Genomics Symposium in May. - ➤ The KU Center for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships will host its 29th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium during Undergraduate Research Week. Over 150 students will present their work in person on April 23 and 24 in Gray-Little Hall and online starting at 8 a.m. on April 20. University of Kansas
- ➤ A new chapter in the Oxford Handbook of Normative Ethics introduced a theory that defines well-being as having and realizing personal values through one's agency, according to KU professor Jason Raibley who co-authored the work with Valerie Tiberius (connections to psychology and economics). - ➤ The City of Lawrence is extending its 9th Street closure to Mississippi Street (final phase of Jayhawk Watershed work) starting Monday, April 20.
