CULTURE NEWS

  • KU students and Kansas City entertainers will perform dazzling drag acts at the fifth annual Kansas Drag Showcase scheduled for 6 p.m. on April 19 at the Lied Center on Stewart Drive—doors will open at 4:30 p.m. for a meet-and-greet and photo opportunities.  The Lawrence Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • KU professor Barbara A. Kerr wrote a new book on freedom that shows how people can live naturally and be happy. The book—The Psychology of Liberty: Reclaiming Everyday Freedom—will soon come out and is based on seven years of research in history, how people live together, art, and family life.  University of Kansas
  • KU assistant professor Manar Shoshani was honored with a five-year NSF CAREER Award of over $769,000 to study how to convert carbon dioxide into chemicals like methanol, formic acid, and oxalic acid—he said the award would boost his research and help train students at KU.  University of Kansas
