- ➤ On Thursday morning, Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation donated $52,000 to 13 nonprofits at its award banquet at Prairie Band Casino in northeast Kansas — adding to millions already given to local groups over the years. KSNT 27
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Cooper E. Rash, a 19-year-old from Lecompton, was arrested on April 10 for his alleged attempt to sell a stolen Chevrolet Corvette on Facebook Marketplace+ officers also recovered a stolen firearm and he was booked for possession of stolen property along with an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. - ➤ Rear Admiral Kelly Battese— a U.S. Public Health Service and IHS leader— will be honored today at the KU School of Pharmacy in a ceremony at the Pharmacy Building in KU’s West District as he receives the 2025 Distinguished Service Award. Battese, a native of Olathe and KU Pharmacy 2005 graduate, serves in high-ranking roles that support over 1,200 commissioned officers and active duty pharmacists. University of Kansas
- ➤ Two Jayhawks placed at the Fifth Midwest Korean Speech Contest held on April 5 in Chicago. Melia Whitney took third in the beginner level — Henri Groves earned third in the advanced level — as the contest promoted Korean language and culture among college students from 19 regional schools.
