  • Rice Woodland Trail will open at Baldwin Woods Forest Preserve on April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon, featuring a ribbon—cutting ceremony and a performance by KU choreographers. Visitors can explore the trail and speak with ecologists at the trailhead in Baldwin City.  University of Kansas
  • Lawrence is getting ready for the World Cup as Team Algeria sets up its base camp, with a resource fair held yesterday at the Carnegie Building & a business readiness event scheduled at the Oread Hotel Monday, April 13.   • Euphemystic Ventures — a local tech firm — launched Lawrence’s first micro data center at KU Innovation Park on Thursday in a 250 sqft room, where founder Ted Kihm said the center helps companies test AI ideas at low cost to scale up their operations.  KCTV

  • The Hall Center for the Humanities at the University of Kansas will host its final Humanities Speaker Series event on April 23 at 7 p.m. at 900 Sunnyside Ave — featuring former KU professor Randal Jelks and professor emerita Maryemma Graham discussing how Langston Hughes used art for resistance and democracy.  University of Kansas
  • KU Law will host the 15th annual Federal Courts Junior Scholars Workshop on Apr. 24 in Green Hall (on campus). The event will bring junior scholars and senior professors together to review draft papers and offer feedback on federal courts topics.  University of Kansas

  • A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Lawrence Public Schools must respond by week's end to open records requests on its AI monitoring software after months of delay—a hearing on April 23 at 110 McDonald Drive will decide if the district acted in good faith.  The Lawrence Times
