ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A study by KU researchers found that many state and national parks did not use experiences with extreme weather to educate visitors on climate change, as park staff often lacked the scientific training to discuss these issues (about 96% viewed parks purely as places for recreation). The findings show that parks in politically conservative areas rarely linked extreme weather to a warming climate while locations with formal climate plans engaged more directly on the risks. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Landlords of Lawrence challenged a city ordinance by filing a lawsuit and had their argument heard Tuesday morning by Kansas Court of Appeals judges at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park — they claim the ordinance is too vague and limits their business decisions.
