COMMUNITY NEWS

  • 100 Good Women will host its annual clothing exchange on Saturday, April 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Douglas County Fairgrounds Building 21 where donated clothing, shoes, and jewelry sell for $1 each. Donations can be dropped off on Friday, April 18 from 3 to 8 p.m. or Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support community programs like groceries and car repairs.  The Lawrence Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Erythronium albidum, also called dogtooth violet — or trout/fawn lily, begins to bloom in native woodland soils as its flowers turn downward to shield themselves from spring showers.  The Lawrence Times

  • Two local high school students from Seaman High sang the national anthem at Royals Opening Day—an opportunity they earned after a competitive live audition that boosted their local profile.
