  • Lawrence Farmers Market will open on Saturday, April 12 from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 824 New Hampshire St with at least five new vendors, a new manager Lyndsey Fowks, and continued programs like Double Up Food Bucks plus an interactive online map to help visitors find vendor booths.  The Lawrence Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 3, KU debaters John Marshall and Graham Revare earned the Rex Copeland Award as the top team in the country at the National Debate Tournament opening in Spokane, and coach Brett Bricker won the James J. Unger Award as the best coach—KU will have three teams competing at the tournament from April 4-7 at Gonzaga University.  University of Kansas
  • KU School of Engineering professor Hongyang Sun won a five-year NSF CAREER Award worth $558,000 to improve high-performance computing systems. He will use the grant to build outreach programs, update course plans, and create research opportunities for students.  University of Kansas
  • Cheryl Druehl, a senior associate dean from George Mason University, will be the third candidate to present her vision for the KU School of Business at Capitol Federal Hall—Room 1020—from 4 to 5 p.m. on April 8; members of the KU community can attend in person or view the livestream to offer feedback to the search committee.  University of Kansas
