  • A Lawrence man's iPhone sent an automatic alert that brought first responders to a car crash on April 1 at 1:25 a.m. on 1000 N. 1800 Road—where a 2022 Nissan Sentra hit a culvert, rolled over, and the 20-year-old driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  KCTV
  • A 20-year-old man from Lawrence was injured in a one-car crash early Wednesday, April 2 on the 1000 block of North 1800 Road north of town — his iPhone automatically sent an alert that helped first responders locate his Nissan Sentra after it left the road, and medics took him to a Topeka-area hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.  The Lawrence Times

  • Wanda Dyer, 74, has been missing nearly two weeks after she was last seen in Eudora on March 21, with community volunteers and police organizing searches including one planned for April 4 and 5—her husband urges anyone who sees her to call 911 immediately.  The Lawrence Times

  • KU Associate Professor Mike Wuthrich will receive the Woodyard International Educator Award and will deliver a talk on April 22 at 3:30 p.m. in the Kansas Union’s Big 12 Room—honoring his role in expanding KU’s global education.  University of Kansas
  • The University of Kansas is hosting Worldwide Climate Education Week from today through April 11 with five events—led by Bard College—that explain climate change impacts and explore human responses via virtual and campus sessions. The events cover topics like eco-social work, digital ethics and civic action while engaging partners across KU and the local community.  University of Kansas

  • The Kansas Insurance Department is helping Kansans with Key Insurance Company policies after Shawnee County District Court ordered the company's liquidation on March 31 — about 13,000 policies in Kansas were affected — and advises residents to visit its website for more details.  KSNT 27

  • The Institute for Health and Disability Policy Studies at the University of Kansas is gathering data from U.S. adults with disabilities on their experiences with housing, healthcare, transportation and community participation—information that will guide future research and policy.
