COMMUNITY NEWS

  • KU Assessment & Technology Solutions and the Lawrence Homeless Resource Center joined forces to update technology systems that support services for people experiencing homelessness. The partnership, announced on Wed, Apr. 1, will upgrade wireless networks and data collection and coordinate quarterly donation drives to meet urgent needs.  University of Kansas

CULTURE NEWS

  • The University Dance Company will present its Spring Concert from April 10 to 12 at the Crafton-Preyer Theatre in Murphy Hall. The performance will feature new works by KU faculty and guest artist Sam McReynolds, with tribute videos honoring two late dance professors (Willie Lenoir and Joan Stone).  University of Kansas

  • KU brings mycologist Patricia Ononiwu Kaishian to Lawrence for free ecosystem events: a Kenneth Spencer Lecture at Liberty Hall at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Apr. 7, a wetlands tour at Haskell Wetlands at 3 p.m., and a Spring Ephemerals Walk at Rice Woodland Trail at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 8.  The Lawrence Times
  • The University of Kansas gave its first Faculty Service Award on Wed, Apr. 1 to Joshua Arpin and Karen Moeller. The award honors the professors for their service to the KU community and includes a $2,000 prize.  University of Kansas
  • KU professors Ian Crossfield and Betsy Mills watched the Artemis II launch in their TV room in Lawrence with their five-year-old daughter, Elsie, who asked about rocket fuel and lunar travel.   • Douglas County first responders now offer the Blue Envelope program at participating agencies to help people with special needs during emergencies - the envelope contains vital documents and medical details that help officers work with care.  KCTV
