- ➤ Lawrence community members are helping to find Wanda Dyer, 74, who has been missing for a week and shows worsening dementia — her husband said she was last seen near local spots. A search party will start at 8 a.m. Sunday, March 30 at Centennial Park — anyone with information should call 785-843-0250. The Lawrence Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ This March, KU students traveled to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for the Alternative Breaks program and volunteered with Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge—helping maintain enclosures and making enrichment toys for big cats—before exploring local sites like Cosmic Cavern and Lambert’s Cafe. - ➤ The University of Kansas Institute for Policy & Social Research will host a public reception on April 4 (from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) in the Burge Union Forum C to showcase research from the 2024-2025 IPSR Doctoral Research Fellows, where each fellow will give a five-minute overview followed by a question period. - ➤ The University of Kansas School of Law won two national transactional law competitions in March — second-year student Namisha Ajit and third-year student Alex Falk won the Wayne State Taft Competition in Southfield, Michigan on March 21 and another KU Law team tied for best overall at the UCLA Transactional Law Competition on March 7. The wins continue a multiyear streak and highlight the strong skills of KU Law students. University of Kansas
- ➤ The University of Kansas Office of Sovereign Partnerships and Indigenous Initiatives will host the LandBack Leadership Summit at KU on April 21 where tribal leaders and scholars will discuss land reclamation and stewardship strategies. The event will feature keynote speeches from Cris Stainbrook and Megan Bang (covering legal, fiscal, and community considerations) and panels with experts on native leadership. University of Kansas
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A local physician urged parents to vaccinate their children as measles cases rose, and a county hosted a walk-in clinic on March 28th to help control the outbreak. Health officials said the clinic remains open for Kansans as the outbreak continues. KCTV
