- ➤ Lawrence NAACP will install 30 granite headstones and launch a digital archive to honor over 30 local Black residents buried in unmarked graves at Oak Hill Cemetery (including three lynching victims). EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Gov Laura Kelly signed a bipartisan law that bans student cell phones in classrooms starting this fall — requiring public and accredited private schools to store phones securely until dismissal while letting districts set enforcement guidelines. The Lawrence Times
- ➤ The Lawrence Public Schools board will consider a $1.73M bid to replace tracks at Lawrence and Free State high schools on Monday, March 23 at 6 p.m. Summer construction (to protect new surfaces) will restrict access, with an Architectural Vision Team bid also on the consent agenda. - ➤ Twenty cadets graduated on Mar. 20 from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center after 14 weeks of training — they will now serve their communities as law enforcement officers. University of Kansas
