EDUCATION NEWS

  • A KU Law team won first place at the National Native American Law Student Association Moot Court Competition in Las Vegas on February 14th and 15th, marking its fifth straight win. Ashley MacDonald and Alex Nelson earned the championship—receiving best speaker and second-place brief awards—after competing among 60 teams.  University of Kansas

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local experts will meet at Lawrence Public Library on March 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. to share data and ideas on gun violence, homicides and suicides in Douglas County—panelists include Lawrence Police Chief Rich Lockhart, Undersheriff Stacy Simmons, Eudora High School Principal Bill DeWitt and KU Professor Jomella Watson-Thompson. Dee Kinard from Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health will present preliminary data and free snacks will be offered.  The Lawrence Times

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Developers will work with architects to adjust plans for 15 proposed row houses near Seventh and Rhode Island after the Historic Resources Commission voted Thursday night to recommend design changes that better match the area’s historic style (including reducing the building’s height and mass). The developers will work with the Architectural Review Committee on revisions without seeking city incentives.  The Lawrence Times
