- ➤ Bob Peebler, a 1970 KU School of Engineering graduate, will be honored with the Distinguished Engineering Service Award on April 16 for his decades of work in global companies & his ongoing support for KU students. University of Kansas
- ➤ Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Rick Atkinson will speak at the annual Dole Lecture on April 13 at 7 p.m. at the Lied Center (free tickets available online starting 10 a.m. March 24) as he discusses his career and his new book. University of Kansas
- ➤ KU Libraries is accepting submissions for its 16th annual LibArt student art exhibition, inviting students from all majors to show their work. Students may submit up to five pieces (applications due April 6) to be displayed in the library's public spaces and compete for $5,000 in cash prizes. University of Kansas
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Laura Kelly signed a law on Mar. 12 that gives homeless veterans new ID cards and names Kansas a Purple Heart State (a move honoring veterans). KCTV
- ➤ The Kansas Board of Regents voted to oppose a House bill that would let KU, K-State & WSU operate with little oversight on non-state expenditures. The board raised concerns about reduced accountability ahead of a Thursday hearing on the bill. The Lawrence Times
