EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Kansas hosts Civic Learning Week from March 9 to 13 — featuring events like Civic Education, a re-entry simulation, leadership workshops and voter registration tables for students and community members. Attendees can gain hands-on training in civic engagement on campus and local venues.  University of Kansas
  • KU Debate team members Brooklynn Hato and AJ Persinger qualified for the 80th National Debate Tournament, which will run March 26–31 in Houston — they are the third KU pair to earn this honor.  University of Kansas
  • Sarah Cullinan Herring (KU) has won a fellowship from the National Humanities Center to research a book linking ancient Greek tragedy and modern epigenetic trauma; she will spend June at the center in North Carolina drafting two chapters aimed at securing a scholarly press contract.  University of Kansas
  • The University Press of Kansas is hosting the traveling AUPresses 2025 Book, Jacket, and Journal Show (which honors excellence in publishing design) on view weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its West Campus location until March 13.  University of Kansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawrence Transit proposed route updates based on rider feedback with major changes to routes 9, 30, 38, and 41+42. They are accepting public input via an online survey until Friday, Apr. 3, with in-person sessions at Central Station and the downtown bus stop before changes go into effect on Aug. 1.  The Lawrence Times
