- ➤ A Stilwell man, Mark Kasaei, is waiting for word from his family in Iran as conflict blocks communications. He founded Iranian Insight, a community group, & said he hopes his loved ones remain safe while he envisions a peaceful future. KCTV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A KU math professor of Greek descent was honored with Greece’s top award when he accepted the Nikolaos K. Artemiadis Award in Athens in December 2025. He earned the honor for a paper (published in 2023) that studied advanced water wave systems. University of Kansas
- ➤ KU professor Zay Dale has explained how enslaved individuals transformed forced clothing into a tool for creative resistance. His research published in Humanities shows how fabrics such as osnaburg (a coarse fabric) helped them assert their identity during slavery. University of Kansas
- ➤ KU is funding a $20.5 million pool from tuition + state tax dollars for student athlete payments while posting a nearly $15 million deficit; faculty and senate members have called for a no-confidence vote against Chancellor Doug Girod, with results set to be shared with the Kansas Board of Regents today. - ➤ Lisa Wolf-Wendel, the first dean finalist for the KU School of Education and Human Sciences, will share her vision tomorrow from 3 to 4 p.m. at Capitol Federal Hall Colloquium. The event will be livestreamed (passcode 842442) for KU community members to provide feedback. University of Kansas
