- ➤ KU research spending increased 12% in fiscal year 2025 to $610.6 million, setting a new record. The investment supported nearly 5,700 jobs, boosted local vendor purchases & spurred growth in clinical trials and start-ups that drive health and innovation in our community. University of Kansas

- ➤ On Thursday, Feb. 26, the University of Kansas named four midcareer faculty as recipients of its annual Scholarly Achievement Award. They will be honored at the University Research Awards ceremony on April 14 at the Jayhawk Welcome Center - a recognition for their research in arts, science, medicine, and social science. - ➤ Lawrence’s Environmental Sustainability Advisory Board will ask the City Commission to revise the 2020 renewable energy ordinance using stronger language + actionable steps instead of repealing it. Board members will review the draft letter at their March 26 meeting. The Lawrence Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A KU study found that high social capital led to higher influenza vaccination rates and longer life expectancy for white residents but did not show the same benefit for Black residents. Researchers analyzed data from over 1,000 counties to suggest that public health measures must address these racial disparities. University of Kansas

- ➤ Douglas County appraiser’s office will mail change of value notices today, Feb. 27, showing most residential and commercial properties have increased by 1% to 8%.
