- ➤ Costco Wholesale is building a 160,000 sqft store at The Mercato development in Lawrence at the northeast corner of Sixth Street & Highway 10, set to open just ahead of Thanksgiving 2026 to offer shoppers a gas station, tire center and bakery. KMBC
- ➤ Smallcakes, a locally owned bakery in west Lawrence, will close on Sunday, March 1 at its Bauer Farm Drive location due to its lease ending; owner Candice McCall said she is seeking a new space and urged residents to visit its sister store in Topeka for treats. The Lawrence Times
- ➤ Developers announced that Costco will open this fall as the anchor for a mixed-use development in west Lawrence — at the northwest corner of Entrada and Mercato Drives, with new Truity Credit Union and Braum’s Ice Cream and Dairy store coming soon. The Lawrence Times
