🎭 Culture
The Spencer Museum of Art will open two free exhibitions on Feb.
19 showcasing Japanese and Asian American art, including Street Nihonga with 145 works by Jimmy Tsutomu Mirikitani and Brush, Block, and Blood featuring prints from three generations of Yoshida women.
Tuesday saw the vibrant Lawrence Mardi Gras parade begin at noon from the Granada and travel up Massachusetts Street to Free State Brewing Company.
Festivalgoers enjoyed early treats at Terrebonne Po’ Boys and joined the lively music led by the River City Brass Band.
KU assistant professor Rahina Muazu released a book presenting new research in Hausa (with English summaries) that explores education and labor challenges for Nigerian Hausa Muslim women.
The volume, developed from a 2024 seminar in Jos, offers steps to support women in education and work.
🎓 Education
The Commons at KU will host Red Hot Research sessions starting Feb.
20 at Watson Library, 3 West with six-minute presentations on Mapping, Detection, Response. Additional sessions are planned for March 27, April 17 & May 1, including one with the Office of Faculty Affairs and a graduate research event.
