  • KU School of Music will celebrate its 50-year piano program with a special concert at 5 p.m. on March 29 at the Lied Center and a master class on March 28 at Swarthout Recital Hall (honoring Professor emeritus Richard Angeletti).  University of Kansas

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eighteen University of Kansas students volunteered in Colorado Springs over winter break, helping local groups like Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity, United Way and Food to Power by building homes, assembling food bags and tending urban gardens.  University of Kansas
  • KU faculty may apply for the Senior Administrative Fellows Program for 2026-27 to build leadership skills from a select group of peers — the program offers twice-monthly leadership meetings and applications are due by Monday, Apr. 6.  University of Kansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City commissioners approved future tax incentives to offset development costs at Floret Hill, a 121-unit permanently affordable housing project on the west side near Kansas Highway 10 (close to Langston Hughes Elementary and the Lawrence Loop trail system); developers anticipate starting construction soon with units available to rent mid-2027.  The Lawrence Times
