EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Lawrence school board will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at district offices to review a tax incentive for redeveloping historic Reuter buildings, adopt 2026-27 and 2027-28 calendars, and raise preschool tuition by 4.5%, with an executive session to evaluate the superintendent following. - ➤ KU Memorial Unions announced renovations to upgrade the Kansas Union level four lobby and Jayhawk Ink space; the updates include new floors, a fireplace, a WWI memorial honoring 130 Jayhawks, and a game day watch spot with a 90-inch TV. - ➤ The University of Kansas School of Architecture & Design has announced the Spring 2026 KU Design Professional Lecture Series, starting Jan. 29 with JD Hooge at 6 p.m. in 3140 Wescoe Hall on the KU Lawrence campus. - ➤ KU Dining will introduce Better Earth bamboo fiber cutlery at its Courtside location + reducing plastic waste as part of its new sustainability drive on campus. The change is expected to encourage more eco-friendly options in University dining. University of Kansas
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Lawrence wastewater tests show high levels of six viruses (COVID-19, influenza, RSV, human metapneumovirus, and norovirus) indicating an early rise in flu activity ahead of peak season. Health experts advise vaccination, handwashing, and mask use at certain clinics to help curb the spread. The Lawrence Times
